Hands-on sailing
Be a little more hands-on if you wish, with an introduction to old-school sail power, with Sailing Windermere. You can just sit back and enjoy the views. Ian offers two-hour tours for up to four people.

Wakesurfing
An increasingly popular activity on the lake. The 10-mile-an-hour speed limit is perfect for wakesurfing, with specially designed boat hulls producing a large wave-like wash. Think of it as a cross between water skiing and surfing.

Who’d have thought so? Maybe it wasn’t too intimidating to consider taking those first steps here. Don’t try it on your own. There are plenty of qualified and insured mountaineering professionals who know great pre-approved routes.

Up the ante a notch with the LDNPA Fell Top Assessors in winter, a scenic drive away over Kirkstone Pass. You can hire necessary equipment from them, as you learn how to ice-axe along the awesome Striding Edge.
Frankly terrifying
Honister’s Via Ferrata Xtreme is set on the towering flanks of Fleetwith Pike hundreds of metres above Honister Pass. A mix of miner’s routes, ladders set into cliffs and wire walks. You need to be capable, with nerves of steel.
