From the South

  • Exit M6 at junction 36
  • From this roundabout filter left onto the A590 (towards Kendal)
  • Follow the A590 for approximately 7 miles
  • At the roundabout take the first exit, signposted B5284 ‘Hawkshead via ferry’
  • Continue along the road for about 6 miles, through the village of Crook and past the golf club
  • At the T-junction with the A5074, turn left and then immediately right onto Longtail Hill
  • When you get to the bottom of Longtail Hill you will reach a T-junction. Turn left onto the A592 (signposted Newby Bridge)
  • After approximately 1.5 miles you will see Storrs Hall Hotel set back from the road on the right
  • The road bends sharply to the left at this point, so please take care when making the right-hand turn into the Hotel driveway

From the North

  • Exit M6 at junction 36 (signposted A590 Kendal)
  • Then follow the same directions as ‘from the South’

By rail

The nearest railway station is Windermere, 5 miles from Storrs Hall. This is serviced by a connecting train from the mainline station of Oxenholme, which is 13 miles from the Hotel. Local taxis are available at both stations.

By air

Please pre-book your landing time on our South lawns. Landing pad coordinates: N542021 and W0025610.

  1. Can I bring my dog to Storrs?

    Regretfully we are a pet free hotel, and only registered Guide Dogs are accepted. There are lots of dog friendly hotels in the lakes, but we are one of the few who do not - a haven for people with pet allergies.

  2. Are you family friendly?

    We accommodate children of all ages, and family groups depending on the ages of your children, and the rooms available – please call us to check.

    The Lakeside Hot Tub Suites, and The Boathouse, are adults only.

  3. Do you have free car parking?

    We have plenty of free, private, on site parking, with 8 EV charging points accessed with the Monta App.

  4. What times are your Check-In and Check-Out?

    Please check-in by 10pm at the latest, or let us know if you are arriving later. Check-out is by 11am.

  5. Is the 1797 Restaurant suitable for small children?

    The Bistro has a children's menu, the 1797 Restaurant is suitable for children over 10 years old only.

  6. Do you cater for dietary requirements and allergies?

    Please notify us before arrival, of any allergies and dietary requirements. We do our best to accommodate you but may not be able to help in some circumstances.
