Spring and Easter Breaks in The Lake District

Spring at Storrs

The perfect excuse to come and stay

lake district reflection

After months of frosty mornings and snow-capped fells, the Lake District is shaking off winter's grip and bursting into a symphony of colour and life. It's probably our favourite time of year and the perfect excuse to come and stay at Storrs Hall.

A time of promise

Daffodils are popping up everywhere, lambs are frolicking in the fresh green fields and in May the woodlands around Storrs Hall turn into a haze of purple as the bluebells are rearing their beautiful heads. Spring announces its arrival with a bang and nature is high on life.

To see some of the best daffodils, head over to none other than Wordsworth’s former home, Rydal Mount near Grasmere. He planted thousands of bulbs in a loving tribute to his daughter Dora - a must see. And while you're there, stock up on some tasty souvenirs at Sarah Nelson's Gingerbread Shop, although they're unlikely to make it back home uneaten.

There are a number of stunning bluebell woodlands near Storrs Hall. We love the beech woods near Finsthwaite but can also recommend the woodlands behind Cartmel racecourse; perfect for a leisurely stroll and a wander through the cute village with lots of boutiques and cafes.

Storrs Hall

The Perfect Base for a Spring Break

Storrs Hall is the perfect place to spend your Easter or spring break. The sunshine floods through our large Georgian windows offering stunning views of the surrounding parkland gardens and Lake Windermere. Relax in the conservatory or head out onto the terrace and and feel the warm rays on your face. Some of our rooms even have floor to ceiling windows with lake views; ideal for a coffee and a read of your favourite book or paper.

Enjoy The Lake District

Beat the crowds

Spring and early summer is the ideal time for walking in The Lake District. The summer crowds haven't arrived yet and we normally enjoy settled weather with crisp blue skies; not too hot and not too cold. And as nature bursts into life it's also a great time to take some incredible photographs.

Linger for longer

Bank Holiday Monday Offer

There's so much to see and do at this time in The Lake District. So why not linger a little longer on Bank Holiday weekends? Book the Saturday and Sunday night of the Bank Holiday weekend and add the Monday at only half price.
